A New Beginning
With the New Year still fresh in our minds, I thought it'd be the perfect time to start a goal that I've had for quite a while. For years, I have been telling people I would start a blog. I'd get bursts of motivation and get all fired up, but the motivation quickly disappeared as fast as it appeared. Time then took its toll on me, I made excuses and pretended that I am too busy to make another commitment. I am most definitely not that busy because my daily routine only includes my cat, work, and the gym (in that order). So no more excuses and procrastination. Join me in drinking my weight in coffee and powering through 2018 like no other.
The laziness and procrastination were always an excuse, but also a mask to hide what I was really afraid of: failing. What if I put in the effort and no one reads my blog? The "what if" questions roll around in my head. It came down to what this blog would really be about. Would it be about me growing or is it all about the numbers? It shouldn't be about the numbers, but it's easy to use them as a guide as a measurement of success. Instagram followers, facebook likes, etc. For me, I'd rather choose a different metric: one that I place on my own. I've sat on my butt for the past few years blabbing on about how I'd make a blog. Since then, I've failed to actually make one. So the fact that I am typing this means it's a success. Woohoo!
Similar to how I am trying not to fall through the grate with my heels on, I am also trying not to fall through the cracks with this blog. That was a terrible analogy, but please give me some brownie points for at least attempting. As you can see, I also can't wink. This whole blog situation is incredibly new to me. It's both exciting but also very nerve-wracking. Can't remember the last time I actually wrote a paper, so my grammar is probably all off. Regardless, I hope you join me in this journey to find my niche in this world. Hope my posts will give you some advice (LOL), make you laugh a little, or just provide a few minutes of entertainment!
And you! Don't let the New Year be the only time you press the reset button and start a new goal. Do it now. Or else you'd be spending a long time regretting and asking why you didn't start earlier. Ask me, I would know. Pursue your passions, dreams, and hobbies like how I pursue gelato on a hot day. The trudge to the gelato stand is far and it's scorching hot outside. But my desire to taste that cold hazelnut gelato with a delicious waffle cone doesn't stop me. I walk for 10 minutes to the gelato store and then proceed to devour my gelato in approximately 5 seconds. Was the sweat and possible dehydration worth it? Uhm, yes. I'd do almost anything for gelato. So go, go go! Set your goal, make it real, and cultivate it.
Remember to have fun and laugh!
