Starbird

SFO Terminal 1

San Francisco, CA

Starbird has a strong brand image and is primarily in Bay Area so it is fitting that it will occupy its own lease space in the new airpot terminal. Its airport design, much like their other locations, will pay homage to fast food restaurants, but with a modern and elegant twist. As a fast food restaurant, Starbird is keen on turnaround time while still maintaining a crisp and clean design. The main cookline is viewable from outside the space, but the architectural elements such as the yellow soffit and carefully detailed counters frame the cookline. The design is a playful interpretation of their slogan, “Positively delicious chicken.” The pops of yellow offer a warm and inviting vibe. Diagonal wood planks that make up the die wall of the counters along with the wood slats above the soffit add to that cheerful vibe. A large communal table between the two columns provide passengers an area to sit and enjoy their food. The globe lights above are arranged in a seemingly random order to provide more playful ambiance.
