New London, New Hampshire

Located right on the edge of Pleasant Lake, this New Hampshire home is hidden behind the trees that offers a quiet retreat for its residents. Each room facing the lake tries to take advantage of the spectacular views that the lake offers. Large windows are placed to bring the exterior into the interior. The main house is seemingly comprised of two houses that are attached by an intermediate piece. The old cottage, which has long been demolished, had a specific footprint. To pay homage to the previous house, the main house, specifically the shingled portion has the same floor plan area. The shingled portion resembles a more weathered looking house that seems to have been there for many years. The second part of the house with the clean wood siding is designed to look like an elegant, modern addition to the cottage, shingled portion. The details between the two parts are similar but also very different. The windows on the modern house is pushed back a few inches and reveals a more textured wood siding. There is also a dialogue between this house and the boathouse a few yards away, which is also under construction. The two buildings work in conjunction to provide views towards the lake. They both are hidden behind the landscaping, proving to be the ultimate place for rest and rejuvenation.
